Eliana Golding joined Demos in May 2024 as Associate Director, Budget and Tax Policy. Previously, Eliana spent four years at the DC Fiscal Policy Institute, mostly recently as a senior policy analyst.
Eliana brings her years of local organizing and movement building experience into her work by focusing on policy change that builds community power and vibrancy. In that vein, Eliana's work at DCFPI focused on creating and implementing policies that help Black and brown DC residents stay in their communities and achieve economic prosperity. Eliana provided budget analysis to front-line advocates, supporting campaigns and advocacy for a more just budget and equitable District of Columbia. In her time at DCFPI, Eliana's research and advocacy contributed to a successful campaign to make DC's income tax code more progressive, raising revenue to end homelessness, expand DC's local Earned Income Tax Credit, and increase pay for early childhood educators.
Eliana holds an MA in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a BA in Politics from Oberlin College. She is an avid potter and woodworker, and is often humming a tune while walking her dog in the beautiful Petworth neighborhood of Washington DC, where she lives.
