President Miles Rapoport Leaving Demos To Lead Common Cause
Miles Rapoport, who led Demos through a period of extraordinary growth as President, will step down on March 10th to become the President and CEO of Common Cause, a grassroots organization dedicated to restoring the core values of American democracy.

Long a champion of strengthening our nation’s democracy, Rapoport has had a distinguished career as an elected official, activist, organizer, and advocate for over four decades. Under his leadership, Demos' litigation and advocacy work helped enable more than two million low-income Americans to register to vote at public service agencies in states around the country. Demos has also helped pass Same Day Registration in seven new states, a reform Miles championed in the Connecticut legislature.

Rapoport’s commitment to democracy is grounded in a vision of the fairer economy that a more inclusive democracy would create. In the last decade, Demos has generated and advocated for policies to build new pathways to the middle class, including the landmark work that led to credit card industry reform in 2009. It is now working to build new momentum to address student debt and wage inequality nationwide.
