Alexa's pronouns are she/her/hers

Before joining Demos, Alexa spent ten years as the Director of Research and Policy at the Community Development Project at the Urban Justice Center (now TakeRoot Justice) working with social justice organizations to design and conduct research, develop and analyze public policy and bring directly impacted communities into decision-making processes. Prior to that, Alexa was the Research and Policy Coordinator at Community Voices Heard, an organization principally comprised of women of color and low-income families in New York State that builds power to secure racial, social and economic justice for all New Yorkers.

Alexa has managed numerous projects in partnership with nonprofit organizations, philanthropic institutions and government officials, resulting in the publication of more than 70 research reports and various journal articles, the passage of city, state and federal legislation, the development of groundbreaking municipal programs and the creation of the Research for Organizing Toolkit.

Alexa is also an adjunct professor at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and serves on the Board of Directors of Community Voices Heard. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
