Press Call: The Precarious Economic State of Young Americans

NEW YORK— On Wednesday, November 2, policy center Demos and youth advocacy organization Young Invincibles will release a new report revealing the profound economic challenges facing America’s young people – and how these challenges threaten the future of the middle class. “The State of Young America” also includes the results of an exclusive national poll of young people on their economic outlook, conducted by Lake Research Partners and Bellweather Research & Consulting.

The report analyzes economic indicators in five key areas: jobs and the economy, higher education, raising a family, cost of living, and health care and coverage. It also includes policy recommendations from Demos and first-hand accounts of struggling young Americans that illuminate the stories behind the facts – such as how typical earnings for young men have fallen 10 percent over the last 30 years or how more than half of all Hispanic young people have no health insurance.

Demos and Young Invincibles will be holding a press call at 10:30 AM EST on Wednesday, November 2nd to discuss the report and provide exclusive analysis of results from a major national survey of young people on their economic condition, their opinions about our policy leadership, and their hopes and fears.
