Demos Urges Congress to Reject Revised Conference Committee Tax Scam

New York, NY – Today, Tamara Draut, Vice President of Policy and Research at Demos, issued the following statement on the Republican tax bill conference report:

“The bottom line is that under the GOP tax scam, the wealthiest one percent of Americans and greedy corporations get massive tax breaks, while working- and middle-class Americans are left with the bill. This tax scam will hurt those families. Americans deserve a tax code that ameliorates—not worsens—the gross inequality in our economy. This tax plan will cripple our ability to invest in infrastructure and fully fund our education system, further holding back future generations. 

“We urge the House and Senate to reject this Republican tax scam. Our country must have a fair tax system that addresses the needs of America’s working families, not wealthy donors.”
