Demos Statement on Trump’s First 100 Days in Office

April 28, 2017 (New York, NY) – As President Donald Trump’s first one hundred days come to a close, Heather McGhee, President of Demos, a New York based public policy think tank, issued the following statement:

“President Donald Trump’s first one hundred days in office have been marred by false rhetoric and catastrophic failures that have – and will continue to – disproportionately hurt middle- and working-class families and people of color. So far, Trump has proposed policies that will deplete family budgets and have already made countless families feel less safe in our nation. He has filled a Cabinet with billionaires who seek only to protect the interests of the top one percent, rather than the needs of everyday Americans. He has even confirmed a Supreme Court justice who will allow the size of people’s wallets to determine the strength of their voice in our democracy.

“From day one, Trump’s administration and his allies in Congress have made it their mission to roll back workplace and financial protections for working families and strip healthcare away from millions, while simultaneously destroying our environment for profit – and all at the expense of people who have the fewest means of protecting themselves.

“In the coming weeks, months and even years, we must continue to judge this administration based on its actions, and avoid being distracted by the empty promises that have undermined their credibility.”
