Discussing the President and Congress on MSNBC, Demos Vice President of Policy and Outreach Heather McGhee noted that Washington is currently falling short of its responsibilities to those Americans most in need, both in current minimum wage talks and negotiations over public assistance funding.

Heather pointed to the findings of Demos' Underwriting Bad Jobs for one possible solution to the wage debate. Without having to wait on Congress, President Obama could sign an executive order and raise the wages of low-wage private sector workers employed by federal contractors.
