Dēmos: “The fact that this Court agreed to hear Moore v. Harper demonstrates the dire need for reform.”

We are glad that the Court ruled today in favor of our democracy and took the opportunity to firmly shut down any future arguments around this theory not rooted in law or precedent.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Dēmos, a movement-oriented think tank committed to racial justice, released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court Moore v. Harper decision:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision correctly struck down a discredited, a radical, illogical concept devised by power hungry, ultraconservative extremists in an attempt to give state legislatures and courts—bodies that have been disproportionately influenced by conservatives—complete power of our laws and our elections.

We urge Congress to take up meaningful Supreme Court reform and examine all avenues to return balance and justice to this Court, including expanding the Court
