Young Adult Economic Series Part 5
Most parents with children under the age of 6 are in their late 20s or early 30s, making issues of family leave, child care, and work flexibility of core concern to young adults under the age of 34. Young families across the income spectrum are financially and emotionally stressed by the demands of work and family, yet our nation has failed to address these issues in any systematic or holistic fashion. Despite evidence that employees who have access to work-life supports are better workers, most major corporations dont do much to foster good parental behavior. And despite numerous studies showing that providing access to quality early learning and care would save the government money in the long run through reduced crime and welfare expenditures, our country has no official family policy or child care policy.
