Andrew Puzder Withdraws Himself from Consideration as Labor Secretary

Washington, DC – Today, after continued pressure from Senators on both sides of the aisle, Andrew Puzder has withdrawn himself from consideration for Department of Labor Secretary, Tamara Draut, Vice President of Policy and Research at Demos, issued the follow statement:

“Since day one, it has been clear that Andrew Puzder is unfit for the position of Labor Secretary. His record has been marred by repeated and egregious labor violations at his restaurants, his comments on workers full of disrespect and his disregard for workers’ rights are directly opposed to the intention of the office for which he was nominated.

“The decision to withdraw his nomination is a victory for our entire labor force but our job is not complete. We will not be satisfied until President Trump fulfills his campaign promise and nominates a labor secretary that will work to help the protect and support all workers in our country.”
