Lauren Strayer

Lauren helps develop and implement communications strategy, focusing on media relations and web development. Previously, she was Associate Director for Institutional Giving for Demos and The American Prospect.

Prior to joining Demos, Lauren was the executive director of the New Democracy Project, where she was a co-editor of and online contributor to Change For America: A Progressive Blueprint for the 44th President (Source Books, 2009). She is also a co-author of Defend Yourself! (Newmarket Press, 2006) and has written on a variety of policy issues including media reform, public broadcasting and consumer rights. She was associate producer of 7 Days in America with Mark Green and Arianna Huffington at Air America Radio and also worked with the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute, the Tesseract Group and Free Press. 

Lauren was a 2010-11 Next Generation American Express Fellow with the National Council for Research on Women. She holds a B.A. in political science and economics from the University of Michigan.
