Demos and the New York Law School Chapter of the American Consitution Society are proud to present a special discussion with Thom Hartmann, reknowned progressive political commentator, author, and host of the nationally-syndicated Thom Hartmann Program.
In this special forum, Hartmann will discuss the newly updated version of his book, Unequal Protection: The Rise of Corporate Dominance and the Theft of Human Rights. In the recent decision on Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that corporations have the same rights as citizens. Hartmann will trace the history of corporate personhood up to the recent ruling, and offer his thoughts on what can be done to protect the rights of people over corporations, and to prevent the opening of flood-gates for corporate money in political campaigns.
Thom Hartmann is on-air live daily in over sixty cities as well as XM and Sirius Satellite radio. He is a four-time Project Censored-award-winning, New York Times best-selling author. His national daily progressive radio talk show, now in its sixth year on the air, replaced Al Franken on the Air America Radio Network, and recently moved to the former Jones Network, now owned by Dial Global. More people listen daily to the Thom Hartmann Program than any other progressive talk show in the nation. Talkers Magazine named Hartmann the 10th most important talk show host in America, and the #1 most important progressive host in their “Heavy Hundred” ranking. He is the author of over twenty books. This event will be webcast live at www.demos.org.
