At AFL-CIO: Panel Discussion on "The Politics of Voter Suppression"

Wednesday, September 19, 2012 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Please join The Century Foundation, AFL-CIO and Demos Sept. 19 for a reading and panel discussion of Tova Andrea Wang's new book, The Politics of Voter Suppression: Defending and Expanding Americans' Right to Vote  (A Century Foundation Book published by Cornell University Press). The book examines historical efforts to suppress voting among targeted populations through voter ID laws and similar measures and presents reforms to increase voter turnout.

A Democracy Fellow at The Century Foundation and Senior Democracy Fellow at Demos, Wang says today's voter suppression tactics have roots going back a century and a half and pose a serious threat to democracy itself.
