Sequestration: Who Will Feel the Pain?

In the lead-up to the deadline to avoid sequestration, the set of across-the-board spending cuts that kicked in this month, there was plenty of confusion about its impact.

Many Republicans settled on the message that the cuts would be painless. Democrats’ attempts to outline the damage were hamstrung by some claims that were debunked in embarrassing style.

But make no mistake – the cuts are deep and the pain will be real. Some of the effects won’t come into focus until weeks or months down the road, but there are others that we can already quantify.
