America Divided: A Docuseries to Combat Inequality

Inequality is the common thread connecting every issue we work on at Demos, and challenging the public narrative about that inequality is essential to our work to solve it. This year, we’re proud to have an ally in that fight in the entire team behind the upcoming television documentary series America Divided, premiering this fall on EPIX.

America Divided demands the promise of a united, diverse America where we all have an equal chance in our economy and an equal say in our democracy. Join us June 1st in New York City as we honor them.

America Divided gives voice to those who need it most, featuring narratives around inequality in education, housing, health, labor, criminal justice, and the political system. Filmmakers Solly Granatstein, Lucian Read, Richard Rowley, and Rebecca Teitel are working with executive producers Norman Lear, Shonda Rhimes, and Common to develop the series—which is designed to create a much-needed dialogue about inequality and how it impacts our pursuit of a just America. For that, we honor them.

Like Demos, the passionate leaders behind America Divided refuse to be limited by the current narrative about community, racial equity, and economic justice, and we are proud to have served as a thought partner and counsel to these talented men and women as they identified the most critical issues to spotlight in the series.

The America Divided team is an important partner in Demos’ fight to tell the stories of those excluded from the country's most crucial conversations. We proudly honor them at our Gala.

Next week, we look forward to honoring the people, organizations, and movements challenging our country to preserve the American dream: UAW’s Dennis Williams, Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards, the United States Student Association, and America Divided. Together, these honorees have shown tireless dedication to achieving real political, economic, and racial justice for us all.

Nowhere is that more evident than in the work the America Divided team is doing this year to engage and inform Americans of all backgrounds on the economic and political challenges we face. We’re truly humbled to celebrate them next week.
